A figure moved swiftly toward the river, stopping as it reached the bank. Grey-gold eyes looked at the river placidly as she sat down. Her short brown-blond hair rustled in the wind, making the girl sigh in contentment. She smiled, a genuine smile, as she let the soothing sound of the rushing river calm her nerves. 'It's nice,' She thought, 'to be able to do this sometimes, to just relax and be calm and completely alone, with no one else around to make her jittery and nervous. Kakari lay down on the ground, relaxing somewhat, though not dropping her guard. She let the warmth of a new spring wash over her adding to the peaceful sound of the river. Kari smiled happily, loving the sounds, smells, and feelings that flooded her like a wave crashing over her.

Not to far away sat a black haired man, listening to the rushing water. He had just gotton back from a mission and the sound of rushing water helped to calm him down. His normal kimono-like shirt was replaced with a simple red t-shirt and he couldn't have been more relaxed. Noticing the girl out of the corner of his eye, Xander turned his head slightly but at the moment was too comfortable to get up and go talk to her. He loved summer or more specifically loved being able to hear the birds sing and be able to sit outside and enjoy moments like this. He shifted his position slightly and made some hand signs. Watching as a stork rose out of the water and stood there for a moment, Xander smiled. He let his hands drop and watched as the stork dissapeared. Leaning his head back, he closed his eyes, still not bothering to get up and talk to Kakari. He wanted to be alone right now, wanted to be able to enjoy this peacefulness he felt.

Kakari had noticed Xander, but kept to herself. She was enjoying the pasive feeling of serenity that was flooding her bangs. She wasn't wearing her normal baggy clothes, but instead a form fitting tanktop that she always wore under the baggy black shirt. Her pants and shoes, however, were the same as always. Kai let out a low sigh of pure contentment as she closed her eyes

Xander opened his eyes but otherwise didn't move. Looking up at the blooming trees, he smiled and watched a bird fly away. Spring was his favorite time of year because the trees bloomed and turned the forest into a paint of pinks, whites and greens. He strecthed and made more handsigns, this time making doppel gangers appear, all of them in the same position. The other good thing about being here was it kept him from getting angry and transforming into his demon form. His clones dissapeared and he got up, groaning from having to leave his comfortable position. Walking over to Kakari, he stoped in front of her and reaching one hand up to casually scratch the back of his head, reached the other one out for her to shake. " Hey, I haven't ever seen you here before" He paused for a moment then continued " I'm Xander by the way".

Kai sat up, startled by the fact that Xander had actually talked to her. The young Chuunin looked at him warily before reaching out to shake his hand, tentatively. Her eyes looked like those of a dog who had been beaten too many times and found it hard to trust others, scared, like if he made any sudden movements, she would run, "Kakari Ien Takai. Call me Kari, Kai or Ien. Doesn't matter to me."She said in her soft voice. She gave Xander a wary smile.

" Nice to meet you Kari" Xander noticed her nervousness and moved back, sitting down a few feet away. " I love this season, being able to go outside without wearing any extra clothing". He smiled and layed down so he was facing the sky. "Don't you agree?" He raised his slightly, waiting for Kari to reply.

Kakari nodded, a smile crossing her face, "This is a nice season, it's my second favorite, next to Winter."She said, looking up at the sky. Her gray eyes showed a passivity as she took a deep breath of the warm air. She looked over at Xander, somewhat curious. He hadn't tried to hurt her, and he had been considerate enough to back away. Kari was confused, "Why...why aren't you making fun of me for being so scared?"She said, quietly, "Most people...say that it's stupid and they make fun of me...why aren't you?"She looked at Xander, confusion swirling in her eyes.

"Being scared isn't stupid" Xander sat up before continuing "You don't deserve to be made fun of just because you're scared". He reached up and brushed a strand of hair back. He stood up, brushing non-existent dirt off of his pants. "wanna go for a walk?" He offered Kari his hand to help her up. He hoped that his answer had helped her, at least a little.

Kakari suddenly smiled, her eyes sparkling with a simple and pure joy, such as that of a child. She looked at Xander, some small sliver of trust and respect lodging itself there, "Thank you..."She said softly, taking his hand to pull herself up. She blinked at him, "Yeah, sure."She said, "A walk sounds nice."

"Great" Xander started walking, slowly so Kari would be able to catch up. "I hope what i said helped just a lttle" He looked back at her, smiling. His green eyes looked around watching a bird land on a branch near-by. Moving over to the side some, he leaned against a tree trunk, waiting for Kari. He didn't know why but suddenly he reached down and blucked a flower out of the ground, it's petals a light blue. << bleh......ick post >.< >>

Kari followed quickly after him, the smile still fixiated on her face, "You helped. Trust me, no one has ever told me that being scared isn't stupid. Everyone else..."She shook her head. When she realized how far ahead of her he was she quickened her pace slightly to catch up, stopping as she reached the tree on which he leaned.
((Meh... I have writers block...))
